Fire protection

The effect of floor drains on the fire protection of joists must be considered during installation.

For concrete floors, the concrete cover layer under the floor drain should be about 70 mm to ensure fire EI 60 without further fire tests or thermal conductivity calculations. This can be achieved with a 220 mm concrete floor and 24 mm floating filler, or 240 mm concrete.

More from the knowledge bank

The installation of the Enduce energy recovery floor drain leads to a significant reduction of energy consumption during the operational phase (EPD module B1).
Calcareous water does not have a problematic impact on the floor drain either on the gray water side (used shower water) or the tap water side.
A hot water-based cleaning system heats, melts and flushes greasy deposits out of the heat recovery system's heat exchanger.
