What is the flow capacity?

The heat recovery system is optimized for a shower flow of 8-9 litres/minute (modern hand shower) and normally handles flows up to about 12 litres/minute when showering - equivalent to the flow from a modern overhead shower.   

For flows greater than 12 liters/minute, the excess water will flow via the floor drain's overflow directly to the sewer (without heat recovery). The overflow ensures that the floor drain always functions as a normal floor drain with high flow capacity at worst.   

Standardized flow capacity for different well designs (RISE 2024): 

  • Clinker (heat recovery system + overflow): 0.88 l/s (overflow only 0.54 l/s). 
  • Vinyl carpet (heat recovery + board drainage): 0.42 l/s (board drainage only 0.49 l/s).
